Fair Cut

Split each shape into two equal halves with one straight cut. Every cut is measured to a hundredth of a percent.

Fair Cut

One shape. One straight cut. Two pieces that should weigh exactly the same.

Fair Cut sounds trivial until the first result appears: 48.71% : 51.29%. The middle of a picture is rarely the middle of its area, and every cut is measured to a hundredth of a percent.

How to play

  1. A shape appears on the board.
  2. Press, drag a straight line across it and release. The cut runs across the whole board, so only

the line's position and angle matter.

  1. The two pieces slide apart and show their share of the area. A dashed gold line shows where the

exact half was, in the same direction as your cut.

  1. Tap or press Enter to move on, or wait a moment and the next shape appears by itself. A run ends

after the last shape.

Controls

Action, Mouse / touch, Keyboard

Cut, Drag across the shape and release, Arrow keys move the guide line, Q / E turn it, Enter or Space cuts

Next shape, Tap the board, Enter or Space

Pause, Pause button, Esc or P

Hold Shift while moving the guide line for fine adjustment. The game pauses itself when it loses focus. Sound, reduced motion and the interface language (English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese) can be changed in the game's top bar.

Tip

Look at where the heavy part of the shape is and lean the cut toward it. On a triangle, a line through the visual centre parallel to a side leaves only about 44% on the tip side.
